After my re-read(what? I read it really fast the first time through, and needed to make sure I didn't imagine the awesome) I agree with you more than I thought possible. I love Ian(and Wanda, for that matter) SO. MUCH. He's just...gah. I know this probably is an unpopular opinion, but I think Ian fits the "perfect boyfriend" bill better than Edward. Even though he tried to kill her. Heh. I just cannot get over the amount of love I have for that character.
These two Ian lines cemented that for me:
You. Are. Not. Leaving. Me. and I held you in my hand, Wanderer. And you were so beautiful."
I died. That last one just about made my heart explode. I was ridiculously happy that Wanda didn't have to deal with any conflict with her new body's reaction to Ian, too. And Jamie's involvement in making the two of them man up! I love Jamie, too. He's precious.
I also totally did not expect to love Wanda more than Mel, but damn. She was just so awesomely written. It really pained me to re-read the parts where she was attacked/harmed. I wanted to protect her, which made Ian's affection towards her that much easier to buy.
And hee. I can definitely see some of Rod Rowland's stature/features being Ian's, but when I look at him all I can see is Liam Fitzpatrick. So, I choose to picture Rod as Kyle, and Rod's slightly more attractive, blue eyed, (fictional) brother, Rad as Ian.
One more thing, had SM killed Wanda? I don't think I would have been able to read Breaking Dawn. Okay, that's not completely true, but I would have been devastated. I'm kind of hoping for a continuation, but only if Ian and Wanda(and their relationship) remain totally unscathed. Which is highly unlikely, but still.
