interesting article posted by IMMORTAL at beta.

Levin should have a special place in hell reserved for himself. i'm not sure if he's equal to or worse than Jamie Kellner. bastards. the lot of them.

Is it just me, or did anyone else finish reading that article and, everything else set aside, think "what the hell is a 'skein'?"

I looked it up on dictionary.com and the definition didn't seem to relate at all to the use of the word in this article. Is this a common word in entertainment reporting? Or did someone just try to coin a new term...? *confusion*

But back to the matter at hand... poor Joss. He really gets no respect, and it's a sad comment on the state of the television industry in generel - as he said, apparently there's no place (or a very devalued one) for quality in the equation. And that's sad.

Yeah, the use of "hip lingo" in that article was distracting, yo.

Do you know what this article, and the whole demise of the Whedonverse and the rise of crap reality shows? I saw this movie years ago, and every time I see television "dumbing things down", I completely flash back to it. I haven't gotten around to reading the Vonnegut story it's based on, but the general gist is that in the future, the government actively restrains people's intelligence, making them easier to control under the guise of "levelling the playing field".

It may be an extreme comparison, but I'm getting disgusted with the total "dumbing down" of North American society. It's irritating.

Here's actually a better synopsis of the movie...

Harrison Bergeron.

I love me my Vonnegut.

You should read the story. It's short and great.

Well heck, I'm bored and at work, and all I'm doing is spamming people's LJs, maybe I ought to go see if I can dig it up online :)

reality tv, i find, is just stupid.

newlyweds, till death do us part and the like are exceptions because they basically show us what celeb life is like beyond the cameras but the apprentice? joe millionare? fantasy hotel? the surreal life??

i'm surprised shows like law and order, the practice and 24 are still on the air!

Yeah. Did I read that right? Did that article actually intimate that Angel is getting axed to make room for.....*Reality TV shows*?

At this point, I say, fire the nukes. If mankind is that stupid, just wipe us off the face of the Earth.
