tiggz: (david cook - permanent)
obsessed with this song. with the way he sings it. with the lyrics. with the guitar. everything is just so...guh. so much love i can't even articulate.

lyrics:

baby it's our hearts' slow beating
that make us grow old
i mean to say there's no one helping
we're digging our own hole

i'm reading your words
they're scrawled on the page
they lay here in silent rage
i'll hold you to this
for as long as i breathe
much more than whispers

if i ever found a one leaf clover
it would be you
wishing that such heights were lower
and nothing is new

citing your verse, it couldn't sound worse
the black recital i did rehearse
we all die alone, and as i'm clenching this phone
can't imagine a slowing hearse

how many times will i play the hero
how many lies before it's true
how many times will we clock out at zero
how many tries before we're through
how many lives till another you

the scars are slowly healing
the lips have regained feeling
the obstacles are kneeling
the final wax is sealing
the great white ships are sailing
the feet have left their railing
the four last hooves are hailing

how many times will i play the hero
how many lies before it's true
how many times will we clock out at zero
how many tries before we're through
how many lives till another you

baby it's our hearts' slow beating
that make us grow old
i mean to say there's no one helping
we're digging our own hole

my favorite part is the part i bolded. seriously, if you've never listened to a David Cook song before now, listen to this one. (camera work is a little shaky at first, but hang in there. it's totally worth it.)
tiggz: (david cook - rockstar)
only 3 days until DCook's debut albut comes out. everyone needs to go buy it. you can stream it here in the interim. meanwhile, i'm watching this on a pretty constant repeat. the only song i'm not really feeling in that line up is Heroes. Declaration is killing me with its hotass combination of guitar, lyrics, and percussion. Lies has completely won me over and i think a lot of that has to do with watching him perform it live. Bar-ba-sol? still my favorite. watching him sing it makes me want to throw him down and shag his brains out. guh. fucking swagger is right, DCook.

oh to be that mic stand...
tiggz: (kristen - sweet tunes)
for the record, i'm so over Snow Patrol songs being in EVERY SINGLE SHOW i watch. there is such a thing as oversaturation and Snow Patrol is fast approaching that, which isn't to say i don't love them. but, COME ON.

also? The Black Donnellys!!!

p.s. Aracade Fire FTW!
tiggz: (jim - lovefool)
it is so good to have new Incubus music. this cd still doesn't replace Morning View as my favorite, but there are definitely some great songs on this one. (though i'm one of few who really liked A Crow Left of the Murder.)

favorite song? hmmm...it's either the acoustic version of Anna Molly or Love Hurts. unlike [livejournal.com profile] spectralbovine, i prefer the more ballad-y songs.

also have some "new" Format songs what with the second release of a live ep this year. really wish the version of Timebomb was a megaphone version, but what can ya do?

now Jimmy Eat World needs to get on the ball and release a new cd. also tours. tours to my city with all of these people would be fantastic. especially Jimmy because i've never seen them live.
tiggz: (kristen - sweet tunes)
i've pimped The Format endlessly here and i'm pretty sure if you haven't checked them out by now, you probably won't. however, this video has made me smile more than once today and i would be remiss not to share it with all of you. whoever came up with this concept is a genius. i'm pretty sure my favorite part is the Bohemian Rhapsody tribute.

tiggz: (ipod love!)
Donnie Darko has one of, if not the, most beautiful scores i've ever heard. i seriously could just listen to it all day. what about you? do you have a favorite?
tiggz: (veronica - a pony?!)

so when are you coming to town, Cat? *g*
tiggz: (doctor - ten - not your mother)
[livejournal.com profile] catmint68 i finally got around to uploading/listening to the new Muse songs on the ipod. LOVELOVELOVE!!! july 11th is when it's being released here in the states per their myspace. that's two good bands releasing their new cds on july 11th. everyone should check out Muse if you haven't already heard of them.

anyone remember this song? i randomly heard it on the radio the other day and remembered how much i liked it. silly fun.

Whovians were quite inconsiderate this morning and because of that i've been horribly spoiled. the BBC should be ashamed of themselves. it's called a spoiler for a reason. *hmph* people who have remarkably remained unspoiled for this bit of news, you may want to steer clear of the comments. i don't know how spoilery they'll get.
tiggz: (tenth doctor is in)
those who have seen the newest Doctor Who, click me for a question )

do not click the cut if you are not watching the current season airing in the UK!!
tiggz: (veronica - a pony?!)
no, Veronica. not a pony, a guitar. yeah, i just bought that. i'm the worst impulse shopper ever. i blame [livejournal.com profile] foxant10. i'm all signed up for lessons and everything. what happened to clothes shopping? i don't know. i'm seriously not going to be able to eat out for, like, two months though.

it actually wasn't that bad. i got the guitar, gig bag, stand and beginners chord book for $200. the lessons are $20 once a week. my next door neighbor is a musician. so i may see if i can get him to show me some things after i get comfortable with it.

here's hoping it's not as difficult as piano proved to be and i learn how to do this. i've always wanted to play an instrument and if couldn't be piano, guitar is the next best thing. plus, it's really pretty. *g*
tiggz: (veronica - *fingers*)
i'm not going to mention how much i love the VM fandom because really, it goes without saying. you guys are made of so much awesome it's not even funny.

the real reason i'm posting is to give those interested the setlist from the Common Ro show on friday night. i also have a couple of goodies that i'll put at the end of the post. i've been trying to wait on the guys to upload a song from that night to their myspace account, but they're slacking. (touring is hard. yeah...whatever. *g*)

5/26/06 - Nashville Common Ro setlist

i really don't think they played all of these, but since they were all new songs, i have no idea which ones were played and which ones weren't. this album definitely sounds like it's going to be more folk-y than The Big Fear. i liked everything i heard though.

goodies are back here... )
tiggz: (kristen - rock on!)
friends bailed on seeing Common Ro with me tonight(holiday weekend plans). they don't know what they're missing. thankfully i have a super cool sister (hi [livejournal.com profile] 3maries!) who's willing to go with me. it's going to make me all nostalgic for you bronzer-shaped people. the last time i saw them was when [livejournal.com profile] chi2cali, [livejournal.com profile] foxant10, [livejournal.com profile] carpedi7, [livejournal.com profile] keiran_c and Lady Ireland were in town for the Vulkon(*gag*) Buffy/Angel Convention in 2003. [livejournal.com profile] socks_192 and [livejournal.com profile] ubervixen were there too, but they live(d) here at the time. [livejournal.com profile] socks_192, you still do, but you get my point. </rambling> i miss you guys!! *sniff*

so anyway. i'm off to get ready to go out. will report back about how the guys do. if i have cell reception i might make a voice post. we shall see...
tiggz: (veronica - vanna)
there have been some posts on my flist recently that tout movies they've seen as the WORST. MOVIE. EVER!!! every time i see posts such as these i think to myself, "self, have these people seen Harvard Man?" in most cases i must conclude that no, it's not possible that they've seen Harvard Man and can still call any other movie the worst they've seen.

Harvard Man isn't even bad in such a way as one can mock it a la [livejournal.com profile] eirefaerie and [livejournal.com profile] dachelle. it's so bad i've done everything i can to brain bleach it. truly. so if you find yourself wanting to watch it even after this post, don't blame me.

with an un-pimp, i feel the need to pimp. do you know who Tina Majorino is? sure you do! when she was a wee little thing she was in such movies as Corrina, Corrina and Andre. these days she's all grown up and starring in such movies as Napoleon Dynamite and extremely awesome shows like Veronica Mars and Big Love. i'm not going to pimp her acting even though it's phenomenal. what i am going to pimp is her band, The AM Project. go give 'em a listen. she has a great voice, there are great harmonies, good hooks and a pretty wide range of appeal.
tiggz: (izzie/denny - :))
thanks for the comments on my last post. [livejournal.com profile] hollyn, thanks for the VM. i'll give you a call tomorrow sometime. maybe on my way home from work.

for the most part i'm just posting a)because i have pretty new icons (DENNY!) and b)because i have shiny new music. The Format have made their new cd, Dog Problems available online before the "official" July 11th release. it is very different from Interventions + Lullabies. I+L was very much a ballad-y album. Dog Problems is more upbeat, which makes sense considering what the cd represents for Nate. the best part of all of this? i finally have a kick-ass version of Timebomb. i've been waiting for that since i saw them live in march.

oh and Jason Dohring? so pretty.

to sum up? wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
tiggz: (veronica - *wave*)
haven't posted in a few days. no reason really. just don't have much to say. still don't. the most exciting thing i have to report is that my Dr Who torrent only took 3 hours to finish. it's going to have to wait until later though. right now i'm off to wal-mart to return something and grab some ravioli for dinner. then i'm heading to the sister's place to finally get around to watching Jarhead.

Format fans, if you haven't already, sign up to be on their mailing list so you can listen to clips of the new songs and vote for what should be their first single. theformat.com.

and finally, hi and welcome to the new people i have on my flist thanks to the most recent VM friending meme.
tiggz: (kristen - LOL)
VM fandom is cracking my shit up lately. see [livejournal.com profile] sweetcynic23's post here for an example. tears. rolling. down. my face.

also? i may have a new favorite VM song. Sia - Breathe Me (the Four Tet remix). i'm not sure if i prefer this version or the original though. very good stuff. is Rob still choosing the music? if so, i kind of love him.

music meme

tiggz: (ipod love!)
the 20 18 cds i can't live without

this is such a rough draft it's not even funny )

didn't go to work today. had the worst headache i've ever had in my life. seriously. i had to hold my head to even get out of bed and take excedrin.
tiggz: (lamb - WTF?)
god, i love Queen. how can some of these people not have heard these songs before? it's Queen!!!

quick AI thoughts before VM comes on in its new/old timeslot )

if there are people on my flist who haven't heard these songs before tonight, do me a favor. seek out the originals. i beg of you.
tiggz: (veronica - headache)
ahhh...healthy VM debate. one of my very favorite things. thanks [livejournal.com profile] juleyah!!

also sharing some music with my brother in an attempt to get him to go see The Format in concert on sunday night. maybe we can make a sibling night and my sister and my brother go with me. *fingers crossed*

speaking of The Format, [livejournal.com profile] foxant10, i've come across a few more songs from them. i think i fall more in love the more i hear them. the song i'm listening to is an example. remind me later to share the wealth.

using this icon because V is listening to the interrogation tapes. not because i have a headache which is what my keywords suggest.
tiggz: (rose - !!!)
i have the greatest flist. [livejournal.com profile] ginger1978, i got the mix cd today. listening to it now. very eclectic.

"goody two goody two
goody goody two shoes"

woo! you rock!! *smoooooooch*
tiggz: (veronica - ta da!)
here's the deal. i'm not gonna cut this post because it's just my opinion on the singers/songs, but when the results stuff starts happening i will totally cut.

now. tonight was kinda meh for me. i think the girls have a hell of a lot more talent per capita than the boys. there are four stand-out boys for me.

Chris Daughtry rocked the fucking house with Wanted Dead or Alive. hothothot. seriously. Elliott Yamin? damn. i was not expecting that. a Stevie Wonder song and you nailed it, buddy. your's was the best performance of the night. Taylor, i like you. i like you a lot. i think you are an acquired taste though. you'll probably get fairly far, but i don't see you as AI material. go out and get your own recording deal, sweetie. Ace. oh Ace. you are so very pretty. you also have a nice voice, but i don't expect you to make it all the way. singing Father Figure? excellent song choice. very much fits with your style of singing.

David Radford, please get off my television screen. your crooning makes me want to jam my fingers into my ears until all i hear are my muffled whimpers.

Bucky Covington, you're awful. i'm fairly certain you were channeling Kurt Cobain in your performance tonight. please leave my tv screen.

Bobby Bennet, no. just...no. no one can sing Copacabana and be taken seriously as a competitor. i mean, really.

Sway, falsetto can be nice, but an entire song of it? for the love of god, NO!!! please be better next week. also? you were not one of the "hot ones" tonight. do not listen to Randy.

Gedeon, there's just something about you i don't like. loved your song choice though.

Kevin Covais, you're adorable, but you're not AI material.

Patrick Hall, awful song choice and i've pretty much forgotten you. bad move, my friend. bad move.

Will Makar, you're fucking adorable and i'm stealing you from [livejournal.com profile] puppetoflove. however, tonight's song choice did not show me the set of pipes that i know is lurking underneath there. please choose wisely next week.

to sum up, i think (hope!) David and Bobby will be gone out of this group. they just don't have it. i'm totally taking Chris, Will and Ace home with me.
tiggz: (veronica - bored now)
i am so. bored. i guess everyone in internetland is off enjoying the holiday. i'm stuck at work twiddling my thumbs.

since i'm bored. i shall spam with you with song lyrics.

The First Single (You Know Me) - The Format

I can't stand to think about a heart so big it hurts like hell
Oh my god I gave my best but for three whole years to end like this
Well do you want to fall apart? I can't stop if you can't start
Do you want to fall apart? I could if you can try to fix what I've undone
Cause I hate what I've become

[Chorus]
You know me, oh you think you do you just don't seem to see
I've been waiting all this time to be,
Something I can't define
So let's cause a scene, clap our hands and stomp our feet or something,
yeah something I've just got to get myself over me

I could stand to do without, all the people I have left behind
What's the point in going around when it's a straight line baby, a straight line down
So let's make a list of who we need and we'll throw it away
'Cause we don't need anyone, no we don't need anyone

[Chorus]

And I hate what I've become.

You know the night life is just not for me
'Cause all you really need are a few good friends
I don't want to go out and be on my own,
You know they started something I can't stand
You leave for the city,
Well count me out
'Cause all this time is wasted on everything I've done

[Chorus x2]

Yeah
Over me
Yeah
Over me
tiggz: (ipod love!)
everyone should go here and listen to the song Wow, I Can Be Sexual Too. also, if you know how to get the file so i can dl it to my ipod, i'd love you forever.

i love finding new music.

[edited to add]
[livejournal.com profile] denisef left a YSI link in the comments for the song for those interested.
tiggz: (jayne - *irritated*)
apparently tonight just isn't my night tv-wise. i decided to watch Lost after it aired so i wouldn't have to sit through commercials. i just hit play to watch and my TiFaux just goes straight to the "delete"/"don't delete" option. even though it shows it recorded 63 minutes. grrrr!!! good thing my parents have it on their's. comcast really needs to work the bugs out of these things because this is far from the first time this has happened. annoying.

the grammys have been kinda eh, but the U2/mary j. blige collaboration? awesome. gave me chills. are there downloads of these songs available online somewhere? or will there be at some point? because i think i want that one.

[edited to add]

hot damn, kanye puts on a good show! made me miss my college days more than ever. the golddigger/broke phi broke step-off was awesome. black fraternities/sororities are so much cooler than all the others. if for no other reason than the stepping.
tiggz: (ipod love!)
they're calling for snow here tomorrow, which means it's unlikely that i'll be going to the CoRo show. yes, i'm a wuss who won't drive in snow unless i absolutely have to.

i got an email from ticketmaster this morning with all the upcoming concerts. i set that up because i don't listen to the radio anymore and didn't want to miss any good bands that were going to be here. guess who's coming... the format! they're one of the many bands i've fallen in love with thanks to VM. i must go!! who's gonna go with me?

now panic! at the disco just needs to come to town.
tiggz: (kristen - *laugh*)
i have been laughing myself silly watching clips of Dane Cook on his website. god, that man is funny.

[livejournal.com profile] foxant10, i'm dling his SNL appearance right now. i can reupload to YSI once it's done if you want or make you a dvd. whatever. you decide.

everyone should check out a local band i came across on myspace. ant? did you listen yet? what did you think?

another good one is Touriste. dean suggested them and was supposed to bring me a cd when he came back to the states to visit me this month. *cough*guilttrip*uncough*
tiggz: (veronica - start watching VM. or else..)
[Poll #620177]

p.s. i have most of these songs. if you want them, let me know and i'll upload.
tiggz: (cliff - make it a double)
big, honkin' storms with multiple tornado possibilities heading this way. so i'm turning off the computer. if you need me or want to keep me company, feel free to text me(go to my user info if you don't have my number). i'm hoping the cable doesn't go out and i can enjoy Gilmore Girls, Supernatural and House tonight.

i may end up making a phone post too. okay. gone now. *smoooooooooches*

p.s. if anyone has the song Love Bites by Def Leppard, i would be eternally grateful if you would upload it. i heard it on my way home from work tonight and had forgotten how much i loved it. ahhhh...cheesy 80s music.
tiggz: (ipod love!)
[livejournal.com profile] catmint68? *smooooooooooch* i got them. you are too sweet!! thank you!!

List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your LJ along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.

1. Aerosmith - What It Takes
2. Alanis Morissette - Crazy
3. Anna Nalick - In the Rough
4. The Faders - Whatever It Takes
5. The Format - A Save Situation
6. Rilo Kiley - I Never
7. Straylight Run - Existentialism on Prom Night

i'm tagging [livejournal.com profile] catmint68, [livejournal.com profile] foxant10, [livejournal.com profile] faithx5, [livejournal.com profile] sexycereal, [livejournal.com profile] jaanquidam, [livejournal.com profile] spectralbovine, [livejournal.com profile] schnappycat and anyone else who'd like to do it. i'm always interested to see what people are listening to. oh and if you want any of these songs, let me know. i'd be happy to upload.
tiggz: (rose/doctor - no one even saw it go)
finally got around to watching my recording of Reunion. i haven't seen anyone talking about it, but i enjoyed the ep. Chyler Leigh's Carla" really reminds me of Angela from MSCL. not because the characters are the same, but they just seem to have a lot of the same mannerisms and Claire and Chyler look a lot alike. weirder still was when Tom Irwin came onscreen as her dad.

it's definitely an interesting concept and i'll continue to tune in. The OC on the other hand? still yawning. i'm beginning to think Josh Schwartz used up all of his creative talent on the first season. please don't let Rob Thomas do the same! pleasepleaseplease!!!

anyone else see the commercial for the new Cingular phone that is ITunes enabled? they're using a song from season two of VM!! No Sleep Tonight by The Faders. love that song! i want to get up and dance every time i see the commercial.

speaking of VM, has anyone seen the season one wrap-up on UPN's website? it has to be the most random bunch of clips anyone has ever put together. it doesn't come anywhere close to giving new viewers a clue about what season one is about. seriously. go watch it. the complete ineptitude astounds me.

now for the not so mindless portion of this post. today is 9/11. i think i'm pretty much on an emotional overload because the remembrance type shows that i've watched today have not made me cry. this is definitely rare for me because just hearing things i associate with that day have the potential of making me cry. i'm definitely thinking of everyone who was directly or indirectly affected on this day. especially [livejournal.com profile] ladymyst and [livejournal.com profile] foxant10. i'm a better person for having you two in my life.

not the greatest birthday to have, but i know two people celebrating today.

Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] surreality_fan and [livejournal.com profile] serasempre's daughter!!!
