how sad.

Extreme Home Makeover: Home Edition is in my town!!

i am so happy for this family. their home was completely demolished by the tornado that came through here in april and the mother was paralyzed while protecting her children from the chaos. they just had a special van donated to them a few weeks ago so that she could get to and from her physical therapy and just generally get around town without having to rely on someone to help get her and her chair into a car. it has the special controls so she can eventually drive it herself. all in all i'd say they're on the road to recovering from this disaster.

now i have to figure out where exactly they live because i need to stalk Ty, Preston, Ed and Paul.

in unrelated news, i bought this. i keep saying i need something to play my music when i'm outside in the pool. now i have it! i also got bandit a new harness. he's less than impressed with it and if looks could've killed, i'd be dead. he was cracking me up when i took him outside with it on for the first time. he kept rolling around in the grass trying to figure out a way to get it off. hee! animals are fun-nee...

i've really sucked with not wishing people a happy birthday. so happy (belated!) birthday to [livejournal.com profile] beppergirl, [livejournal.com profile] lady_ireland, [livejournal.com profile] _burntsienna, [livejournal.com profile] sassyeggs77 and [livejournal.com profile] hijinx400!!!

happy early birthday [livejournal.com profile] wastedfairy and [livejournal.com profile] kerryfromcali!!!

this local news story/video breaks my heart and makes me angry all at the same time. i don't understand people who hurt defenseless animals. IMO they're only one small step away from being able to hurt children. bastages.

stoopid work making me one of the last to hear about this. it's interesting and i think it has the potential to bring shows like VM more ratings now that it will be in more markets. i'll reserve judgement though.

in keeping with the spreading of news, have we all heard that Dom and Evie are engaged? i don't know how reliable the source is, but there ya go. i think they're adorable.

this is the craziest thing i've seen all day.

ION i really wish mother nature would make up her freakin' mind(said in the nicest way possible because i've been on her bad side before and that's just no fun. snowstorm in april, anyone?)!! monday? 75. tuesday? 42. wednesday? 69. thursday? damn cold! it's no wonder i have a headache and the sniffles.

[livejournal.com profile] dachelle just mentioned the ep of Prime Time Live that aired last night and it reminded me that i wanted to post about one of the segments. it was about the new lockdown policy that public schools have adopted to protect kids from shooters. i think the segment was inspired by the latest school shooting here in tennessee.

these kids knew it was a drill. they still panicked and if it hadn't been a drill, they would have lost their lives.

the whole segment gave me chills and had me in tears because it can happen anywhere. anytime. i think these drills should be performed in every school across the country. because it's obvious after you watch that it taught the kids to listen to their survival instincts. sometimes the best course of action isn't going to be heading to their designated lockdown classroom. it forced them to think and plan.

if you want to watch it, ABC has it up on their site here. it's very much an eye-opener.

in other news, i have yet to post my thoughts on VM. i think i'm still trying to gather them. i may watch it for the third time tonight and do a write-up as i watch. for now i will just say that i LOVED it. probably one of the best episodes EVER. here's hoping that after Cliff's performance, we will be seeing many more icons of him in the near future.

p.s. listening to other people's ipods is fun.

i don't know if this made national news or not. i sincerely doubt it. in any case, i can't freaking believe that they are finally arresting Perry March. the news conference is in 45 minutes. the police aren't saying what the charges are, but the media is reporting that he's being indicted on second degree murder charges and abuse of a corpse.

almost ten years later and her parents are finally(hopefully) going to get some justice.
