who wants to hear my theory?

this occurred to me last night as i was trying to go to sleep.

we saw in a flashback early on in the season of lilly warning veronica that celeste would do anything to break them up because she didn't want duncan to love anyone more than he loves dear old mommy. this leads me to celeste telling duncan that he and veronica are siblings. i'd say that's a pretty sure fire way to make your son break up with the girl he loves more than anything.

we also see in flashbacks that veronica has lilly be her ambassador to duncan. to find out what she did and try to convince him to take her back. the next day lilly tells veronica to drop it and move on. that duncan isn't "good enough for her". my guess? duncan told lilly what celeste had told him. why they don't just tell veronica at this point, i'm not sure.

here's where it becomes pure speculation on my part. i think that the big secret lilly had to tell veronica at the car wash was a)the reason duncan had broken up with her and b) that she had somehow found out that it was a lie. before she got a chance to tell veronica, she confronted mommy kane with the information and mommy kane got very upset/angry/scared that she was going to lose duncan to someone she viewed as "beneath him". so she struck out. not meaning to hurt/kill lilly, but doing so anyway. it was a total crime of passion.

now...i also think that duncan came home and found lilly lying on the ground and got her blood on his soccer uniform, which is why i think jake is covering up the murder. he believes that duncan is the killer and not wanting to lose both of his children(especially the golden boy), he recruited clarence weidman to cover it up. not willing to admit what she'd done, celeste goes along with it and then has duncan go on the meds to make sure he doesn't remember anything.

I like most of this....perhaps Duncan's mental problems are hereditary and that's why her mom lashed out...mayhaps she doesnt' even remember and THAT'S why she thinks her son did it?

Seriously, I like what you've got going here. I've pretty much eliminated Jake Kane as the murderer (which means Rob Thomas and co will totally go that way because I am NEVER right) after seeing his emotional reaction to Lilly's memorial video. It could also be because I love Kyle Secor and I don't want him to be a bad guy at all.

Celeste has been my choice for the longest time and especially now with the revelation that she knew about Veronica's possible paternity and she knew it could ruin their family (media wise, because I think Jake Kane's a good enough man to accept Veronica) and she took care of the problem. Celeste seems to have Duncan under her thumb so she can control him.

OK, I'm in a pickle. You have pimped this so well I want to dive into the whole Veronica Mars world/experience/cult/hooplah. Only problem - we are on Dish Network and Mom didn't get the package that includes UPN!!! So I either chip and and pay the extra $$ or wait for DVDs. Thinking I might have to chip in!

Excellent theory, with many similar thoughts as I've been having today...

I'm pretty sure of three things:

1) Duncan is NOT actually Veronica's Sister... and we'll find this out when Daddy Mars gets the results of that Paternity Test back. *veg*

This was a ruse, as you say to keep Duncan away from Veronica.

2) Duncan didn't kill Lily. we are MEANT to think he did, especially given his FREAKING OUT at the end of last night's episode. Too obvious.

3) Duncan knows who killed Lily, but doesn't know he knows, because he can't remember.

Yes, Celeste is a strong possibility as the killer. Though again... it would maybe fit too well. Are we humble viewers allowed to guess correctly? *veg*

Where was Veronica's Mom at the time of Lily's death? Could it be something as crazy as that?

we have exactly one episode left this season. however, i'm told that UPN will be reairing the episodes this summer and will probably do so in order(i certainly hope so because it's not going to make much sense to newcomers out of order.). the dvds are set to be released early fall from what i'm hearing through the grapevine, as well. if i could figure out how to record eps from my dvr to my vcr, i'd offer to just mail you the tapes, but i'm completely clueless and everything i've tried has been fruitless.

this show? totally worth the $$. i guarantee you that.

hee!! and yay for someone agreeing with me!! the most popular theory right now seems to be aaron. i'm not buying it. i think it's definitely possible that he and lilly had a fling, but killing her? nah.

1. i hope duncan isn't veronica's sister. ;) seriously though, i don't think they're related either.

2. no way. i've been convinced of that for a long time. i am convinced that at the very least jake thinks he's responsible though.

3. *nod*nod*nod* it's why mommy kane is keeping him medicated. notice that she's the only one pushing his meds on him. i also think that the reason veronica rushed out of logan's poolhouse is because she realized that it's possible the kane's have a similar set-up and there might be footage of the murder.


veronica's mom is another possibility, but my theory for her is way less plausible than celeste's.

yeah...watching the reactions to lilly's memorial video is what put this theory into motion. jake looks touched/sad when he watches the video. celeste looks embarassed and put out.

oh and she's totally controlling duncan.

though with him being off of his meds for a few weeks, i'm wondering what exactly he's started to remember. he told keith he was certian that he hadn't done it. if he was so certain when veronica confronted him, why'd he leave? i think he remembered something while being off the meds.

Cool, if they do I will watch them, Tuesdays just aren't good days during the bowling season. It was hell with Buffy also. It's the one night I know I'm going to be out of the house and I already tape and watch 4 shows so getting into another one was just not going to work. I will watch this summer if they replay them in order because it was one that I wanted to see anyway.

Eh? Even if the Kane's did have a similar setup to Logans bed-cam... what use would a bed-cam be if Lily was murdered by the pool? Or do you mean general hidden cameras?

I figured she left because she didn't want her first night of rememberable sex to be captured on videotape. :)

Though of course the reason probably isnt as important as the purpose it served... they needed to get Veronica home before the end of the episode so they could THWACK us with the "Mommy's Home" cliffhanger to take us into le finale... *veg*

Of course I choose to believe that Logan hadn't pressed record (how would that work anyway? Would it constantly record and re-record? Its not like he can stop and pause to press Record on his secret filming equipment now is it?) and has left all his "secret filming" days behind him now he lurrrrves the Veronica. (Or that he doesn't know about the camera maybe?)
