i really hate trying to figure out what i want for lunch everyday. i need to learn to make lunches for myself before i leave for work. this eating fast food crap everyday has gotten way old. nothing even sounds good anymore.

as my co-worker always says, "i've lost interest."

Right there with you. When I'm feeling motivated, I go to the grocery store at the beginning of the week and buy bagels and yogurt, and snacks to last me for the whole week.

I have always found leftovers are my friend. I try and make enough supper at least a few nights a week, that there are leftovers to take for lunch another day (not necessarily the next, if you like variety). Buy gladware or ziploc resealable plastic containers, and just heat the stuff up in a microwave at work. Or eat it cold. I also keep a ceramic bowl for heating stuff up, because I don't like to use plastic in the microwave.

other lunch ideas: buy pre-peeled carrots, and hummus, and pita bread. Or get other veggie dips that you like. It's simpler than and sandwich, and its yummy and healthy.

but yes, lunches are a pain.

For winter, I like to keep a thermos, too, and I heat up soup and put it in the thermos for lunch. That with crackers or some bread can be nummy.

tortilla chips and salsa are good.

Also, make extra rice, chop up veggies, toss with salad dressing - VERY nummy. You can add cheese, too if you like.

pasta salads are great, too. or pototoe salads.

see if your grocer has a deli section with premade salads, too.

i am a notoriously bad eater. in fact, i secretly believe that my miserable eating habits got me into the pickle i'm in now. that said, i kidn of cheat and eat school lunch. summers i grill extra stuff and bring it in, or run for chinese in the middle of the day. chinese as a general rule has more veggies than regular fast food, and is a relatively reasonable price for the amount of food. i keep a spare loaf of whole grain bread, a thing of cream cheese and a package of cold cuts in the office fridge at all times. cream cheese for breakfast and cold cuts for lunch. i also keep rice cakes, fruit and granola bars around for munchies.

no. i wasn't always like this.

Gosh that happened to me today. I ended up walking around the grocery store for 35 minutes not knowing what to eat! I finally settled on a fruit and cheese plate that cost me entirely too much money!! I brought my lunches this whole week and while it was a pain the night before to pack, it was great...plus the money I saved was incredible!

Good luck! *smoocH*

I'm with you. Nothing ever sounds good for lunch anymore. The cafeteria largely sucks...they have good hot dogs, but who wants hog dogs every day? And the nearby fast food restaurants have all gotten old. I brought lunch for a while, but the combination of not knowing how to cook and always running late in the mornings make me not do that very often. Although, I've also been kinda low on appetite in general lately, so that could be part of it.
