this is amusing as hell. you will need both speakers to hear this. so if you're like me and have ghetto speakers where only one works, you're out of luck. :)
the story behind it can be found
here.
thanks to
x__o for bringing this to my attention. ahahahahahaha!!!

Date: 2004-05-10 07:46 am (UTC)OTOH, that also explains why i like
both of those songs. *hahaha*
also the article...interesting.
i wonder how many other bands could
have a similar thing with two of their
songs? i think maybe Hoobastank? which
i like mostly too....hmmm, there may be a pattern
there. :P

Date: 2004-05-10 09:35 am (UTC)1) Key. Both songs must be in the same key, and indeed have mostly the same chord progressions. I think we've found Nickelback's Favorite Chords. *g*
2) Tempo. Both songs must have EXACTLY the same tempo. Now this one I find slightly boggling.....it's so easy to get off in tempo very quickly, so unless they record their music exactly to a metronome, and happened to use the same exact tempo, I suspect some artificial tampering on the part of the mixer there.
3) Length. Both songs were exactly the same length; IE the same number of measures. Of course, many popular songs use the same measured 'verse-verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus-chorus' pattern with little variation, so that's not altogether surprising.
In all, a very amusing phenomenon.
