I don't pretend to know the first thing about American politics, and my views - limited as they are - are pretty much based on what I learn from international news reports, but I was surprised that Bush was re-elected: I'd been led to believe that support for him had drastically reduced. But then, that happened here when Blair was re-elected, too. Perhaps it's just as well I'm not politically minded.
I agree with you on the 'differences make the world go round' view. It would be mind-numbingly boring if we were all the same. *hugs*
