oh! this is rich!!
Sep. 26th, 2003 08:14 pmi'll cut this for people tired of hearing about the Vulkon shit.
first i'll let you read his post. the added boldness is mine. added effect and all that...
Dear Fans,
I wanted to take a moment to apologize to those of you who got caught up in that terrible mud-slinging that went on this forum last night.
I started out wanting to please everyone, and somehow ended up on the receiving end of a whole lot of insults. Underserved as they were, everyone still has the right to voice an opinion.
However this is my board and I will not tolerate members spreading lies, going on personal attacks, and repeating hearsay, to ruin it for everyone else on this forum.
This forum was created for the fans to have a fun place to meet, chat and talk about their favorite shows and actors and to contribute Constructive Criticism to help make Vulkon and this board better.
Getting on this board and voicing opinions not based on facts or first-hand knowledge is both destructive and dishonest.
I had a couple of people call me unprofessional last night because I defended myself and Vulkon against lies, rude untrue comments, and selfish opinions that were not in the best interest of all the fans. If my conduct was unprofessional I apologize, but I do not apologize for defending myself against those that were making untrue remarks and accusations. Especially one person that had lots of negative comments and opinions but had NEVER attended a Vulkon event? Excuse me ? Maybe you should attend an event and have a first hand experience before you start saying negative things - don't you think?
Vulkon is not perfect - no not by a longshot, but we do give a darn about our patrons, and if you were one you would know it.
It's a free world out there, and there are other conventions, so if you don't like us for whatever reason - that's okay go to a different convention - after all we can't please everyone. But after you get burned a few times at other events (and you will), we will be here and will happily welcome you back with open arms, because my partner and I firmly believe that the fans come first and not the profits. (If that's all we cared about, we would have either cancelled Nashville or moved it with or without your consent.)
Food for thought - huh?
Fernando & Joe / Vulkon
everyone deserves the right to voice an opinion? huh...interesting since he took that right from me and several other people by banning us. was i disrespectful? i think not. i was just saying things that he didn't want to hear and didn't want other people to hear. why? because they were true.
the fact that he keeps bringing up the fact that i've never been to a con is complete and utter bullshit. i've heard plenty of things from the people here on my friends list that are frequent con-goers to know the ins and outs of cons. not to mention i've been to a couple of the PBPs and have/had friends on the PBPc. it just amazes me that he's being so incredibly ignorant about all of this. how clueless do you have to be to not understand that your actions represent the company you work for? in his case at least. people who've never been to a Vulkon convention(like myself) and go to the forum to get an idea about what to expect should not see the promoter of said con being rude to potential customers, making remarks about girls in the forum wearing "slutty" costumes to the costume ball and just overall picking fights with people. it's ridiculous.
i've said it before and i'll say it again...these people are unprofessional!!!!!
i'm going to email Joe right now and get a refund. i'm also going to make sure he knows he's losing two other people's business because of Fernando's treatment of myself and other people at the forum.

Date: 2003-09-26 07:34 pm (UTC)Joe,
I would like a refund for my ticket to the Nashville
SlayerCon in October. If you need a reason, it is
because I am severely disheartened with the way i've been treated in your forum. Fernando has disrespected myself and a quite a few other people on that forum. Apparently he does not understand that when posting there he *always* represents Vulkon. I would also like to inform you that because of his latest attacks he is forcing me, my boyfriend and another friend to pull out of this con. That's about $400 that Vulkon is losing out on because of one man's actions.
Thank you for taking the time to read this email and honor your refund policy.
he's already refunded me the money, however, they're double charging me the 4% fee for doing so. so make sure it doesn't happen to you. he asked me who else was going to ask for a refund and i told him you guys would be contacting him at your leisure. if you want to mention my name, feel free. :)

Date: 2003-09-27 06:04 am (UTC)Do I have this straight--they were going to change the date AFTER people had purchased tickets, made hotel reservations, scheduled vacation days, and purchased plane tickets JUST TO FUCKING GET JAMES MARSTERS THERE?????
They were angling for more Spike fans at the con???
What the fuck? And they freaked out because people were upset over this proposal??
I am completely at a loss for words over this. Unprofessional doesn't even fucking begin to cover it.

Date: 2003-09-27 06:53 am (UTC)Then he was all like, If these new people who won't even identify themselves don't stop posting mean things I'm going to close down the whole forum /whine. I was like dude! My name's Denise. Feel better? And go ahead...close down the whole forum. What do I care? If this is how you treat people at your forum, it's no wonder you're getting so much bad word of mouth at other forums. He didn't like that too much. Went off that if people hadn't ever attended a vulkon con, that they didn't know what they were talking about. Which of course has NOTHING to do with being able to make an informed opinion on how he was treating people AT the forum.
*sigh* The insanity. It's everywhere.
