i am in the pissiest mood and i DON'T KNOW WHY. other than the fact that i think i may be getting sick. joy.

people on the flist(who are in the VM fandom) are lamenting the negativity. i was oblivious to it until today when [livejournal.com profile] eirefaerie mentioned an anonymous meme. kinda shocked it hasn't perforated the [livejournal.com profile] veronica_mars comm. so anyway, i scooted on over to [livejournal.com profile] _elektra's journal to see what all the hubbub was about. i must be getting old because all of the crap that's brought up has been done to death and instead of making me angry, it made me laugh. or shake my head at how the internets turn. different fandom? same chocolate covered shit(SO to Michael Muhney! i've heard the stories. kiss your mother with that mouth?). seriously though, this little anonymous meme? people always act so surprised when anonymous memes turn so nasty. hello...it's human nature that we act like inconsiderate jackholes if we think no one knows who we are. not to mention that it's been freaking forever since we've had a new episode to discuss/drool over/bitch about. people get antsy. they lash out. here's a thought. don't want memes like that to get dirty? don't let anonymous people post. if a screename isn't anonymous enough for someone to use to post "how they really feel" then i don't have much use for them.

now i'm going to shut up because i sound like an old fandom hag.

random aside: i love this icon so much. yay bender! yay [livejournal.com profile] _jems_!

Oh, I thought the whole thing was just so freakin' hilarious! Even more so, when I found out THIS was the negativity people were talking about. Psha! That's nuttin'! ;)

Yeah, the TWoP Meet Market totally went in there and fucked with it. I ripped on myself in the BNF thread and the others commented in kind. It was hilarious. I did also post in defense of MM with my actual LJ name though, but I think I might be a bit biased and too rabid a supporter. Hee.

The whole thing is just silly.

Oh, that's funny. I need to go to bed so I only skimmed the first two pages, but one my favorites so far was "I wish fandom people would just shut up." Um, then how about you DON'T READ FANDOM PEOPLE'S JOURNALS? I know a ton of people who are huge TV show fans and don't know fandom even exists. (Personally, I think they're missing out, but if you don't like fandom, no one says you have to participate in it.)

Can't believe people are still yelling about the VM/BtVS comparisons, though. I never really understood the resistance to comparing a great show to a great show...especially since the reasons I liked BtVS are the same reasons I like VM. But apparently that's just me.

Yeah, I thought the meme was completely tame and just people mostly spouting opinions that are usually stated openly. At least on my flist.

I didn't even think that it had turned nasty, really, just people trying to take others down a peg here and there, but most of it was just opinions about the actual show. That sort of stuff is unheard of.

I kinda like how this icon came in handy so fast. Hee!

Some of it was fairly vicious. Like 'how can Poltercow talk with Rob Thomas's dick shoved so far down his throat?' and some one saying how ugly, fat and disgusting Queen Haq is, after trashing her fan-fic... there are other examples, but I don't feel like scrolling four hundred+ comments to find examples.

I put my two cents in, but I'm sure it'll be deleted tomorrow. I think encouraging people to post anonymously and name names is juvenile and malicious. And I think the people who are doing it are pussies.

Agreed. As funny as I thought it was that the TWOPers played with it a bit, I thought some of that stuff was disturbingly vicious. I don't see how any of it contributes to a "healthier" fandom, when you're calling fellow posters fat cows and the like. Horseshit.

I hope you don't get sick, tiggy.

it's human nature that we act like inconsiderate jackholes if we think no one knows who we are.

This is what...chapter 2 of All I Know About Internet Life I Learned at the Bronze?

not to mention that it's been freaking forever since we've had a new episode to discuss/drool over/bitch about. people get antsy.

Ibid.

Remember Tuesdays during re-run season (particularly the summer after season 5)? After a while, it was so obvious at to be pathetic.

Sometimes? It's actually nice to be jaded, I think.
