dude. why do i feel so protective of David Cook? why does it bother me SOMUCHOMG when someone calls him smug/pompous/douchey/whatever?!?

i have been having a discussion with some people at b.org since the show ended tonight and i'm still seriously WTF about people calling him that. confident, yes. shy, yes. smug, no fuckin' way!! i just don't. get. it!

i wasn't nearly this protective of Blake last year and people said some pretty shitty things about him too. but i was never this affected by it. maybe DCook is more of a woobie than Blake. hee!

I think he is as smug as Daughtry was when he was on the show and got complimented every week for being the "rock guy".

Which isn't to say David Cook isn't awesome, because he is. But I wouldn't call him humble.

You are not alone. It's so utterly ridiculous, but I've NEVER been this in to an Idol contestant. And I'm super defensive, especially with the pompous/smug shit. I don't get it either. Not at all.

And he's a total woobie. ♥ *sigh* He's kind of amazing.

i've never seen the slightest indication of him being ANY of those things. and nobody can ever give me any kind of concrete example of him being any of those things. it's lame.

EDIT: because there are too many david's, and people with the last name cook for me to keep things straight. It's nearly 2:00am and i'm a bit slow on the uptake it seems. I thought you were talking about the guy that got kicked off. I remember you posting about that thing with his old band and the royalty issues. I haven't heard anything else about it. It was about that time that people found out David Hernandez had danced at a gay club.

I'm not sure if Michael was good enough to take it all, but he for damn sure shouldn't have gone out before Kristy. I think I'm still tied between David A. and David Cook. David A is such a genuine sweet kid, but that's one of the things that worries me. I hate to think of what that industry could do to him. Maybe he needs a few more years under his belt, just to be sure he can handle what they throw at him.

Besides, David Cook is just got the total package. I *love* the arrangements he makes with each song choice. He has such a talent. I can't wait for him to put out his first album.
