i've seen quite a few people on my friends list mention this song lately. so i went looking for the video sometime last week. i remember seeing it right after September 11th and just crying my eyes out. it still has a similar effect on me.

the song is called Overcome and it's by the band Live. you can find the video here. there are two versions. the first one listed is footage from the WTC and the rescue workers there. the second one has other related images to that day. like the Pennsylvania crash and the Pentagon. so, Myst be wary if you decide to watch them. okay? *smoooooch*

Oh, yes... I sat in front of the tv and watched it and bawled... I remember very clearly, although it was almost two years ago now... And now, of coure, the song will forever be linked to that in my mind. I'm okay with that, though. The video was a beautiful tribute.

Thanks so much for posting that. I've never seen the video. I'm doing a Buffy icons set to that song now.

The site where the two versions are? It hates me. Or my computer hates it.

I've never seen the video. I had heard about it, but just couldn't bring myself to watch it. After reading what you said about it, and what darcie said, curiosity got the better of me. I figured I'd watch the first version and then maybe the second version.

It won't let me, though. I thought it might be my AdSubtract program blocking it, so I turned that off. Still doesn't let me. It won't launch the sitelet. And, now, because I can't, I want to see it!

i'm going to be serious with you. i am a big live fan. i have all of their CDs. for the life of me, i can't bring myself to listen to the CD that overcome is on because (a) the cd as a whole isn't as good as their previous work and (b) that song reminds me too much of sept11.

the video has EXTREMELY powerful images. i remember watching the video and pointing out to chris where that part of the trade center used to be and that i was standing where this rubble is on sept10.

the song is very beautiful so i thoroughly recommend listening to the song first before combining it with the images of the sept11 video.

*hug*

btw, thank you for those entries. :)

Wow. I took your advice and, well, just wow. Yep, I'm being real articulate here, aren't I?

There were two versions of the song: the original version and one with Sept. 11 news clips. I downloaded both.

I listened to the original version first. Haunting, yet beautiful. While listening, it touched something inside of me. In a good way. The version with the Sept. 11 news clips came next. Still haunting, but heartbreaking instead of beautiful. Tears were flowing by the third line of the song.

Thanks for the recommendation. *hug*

Also, you're welcome.

it is a beautiful song! and unfortunately, i can't seem to not associate 'overcome' with the trade center. sigh. so i thought i'd spare someone else that torture. ;)

you're very welcome!

do you have windows XP? cause my windows XP combined with Norton Anti-Virus is a 50/50 shot of having a javascript pop-up actually working. i'm fairly certain i have the video dled on my home computer. i got it off kazaa shortly after sept 11th. if i do, i'll upload it to my own server so you can just dl it off of there.

like ant said though, you may want to listen to the song before watching the video. if you want i can upload the song too. :)

Yep, I sure do have Windows XP, as well as Norton Anti-Virus. Figures that's the problem. And, you know, for me there always seems to be a problem with the javascript Go command. The Open Window command eventually works, after much yelling on my part.

The version of the video you believe you have is the WTC one, right? If so, I'd be ever-so-thankful if you could do that for me. Pretty please? :)

Also, see the above to ant about listening to the song (s).
