i just watched The Village. i'm not sure why everyone hated it so much. i kinda liked it. it definitely wasn't what i expected and had the typical M. Night twist, but i liked it. surprisingly enough, i wasn't spoiled for the movie either. Bryce Dallas Howard and Joaquin Phoenix were very good.

now i'm debating watching The Notebook, the final episode of Wonderfalls or an ep from season one of Farscape. decisions, decisions.

oh and this meme is nifty.

I don't know that I *hated* it. I could just see all the twists coming. And I could tell when the jump-scare scenes were going to be. So in its quest to scare, intrigue, and trick me, it really didn't. Other than that I thought it was pretty good, acting-wise, photography-wise, etc.

I liked The Village too.

And I vote "Caged Bird," as it's all I've seen out of your choices.

I liked The Village. I never understood the hatred either.

Hee. That's funny. I just finished watching The Village too. And I personally loved it. I was surprisingly unspoiled as well, and that definitely helped. Joaquin, I loved as always. Adrien and Bryce were really great too. So yay for that. I was expecting to be disappointed, the way that some of my friends went on about the movie. Glad I don't agree.

I liked the Village, it was well put together, but I could see the "outside" world coming a mile off.

I liked The Village. It was entertaining, and the acting by Ron Howards daughter was incredible! The storyline was predictable, but thats because I was looking for it. I'm glad you weren't spoiled.

*smooooch*

I really enjoyed the Village

It reminded me of an episode of classic Twilight Zone.

I think also, people put too much emphasis on "finding the twist" with MNS' films, or either being (or not being) convinced by the creepy/supernatural elements. To me, though, those things are really just a catalyst. What MNS does best, if you ask me (which you didn't, but I will share anyway) is create rich, textured atmosphere, with unusual stories involving ghosts or aliens or monsters in the woods, as a backdrop for really sharp, simple stories about human nature and human relationships, with a pretty specific focus.

Personally, I've really enjoyed that in all of his films, which is why the weak spots and plot holes in a lot of the supernatural plotlines don't bother me.
