my favorite performance of the night was Taylor. Paula was actually right tonight about his performance just making everyone smile. it definitely made me(and that's no small feat today). the vocals weren't the best of the night, but it's not always just about the vocals. you gotta have stage presence too. he has that in spades.

now for comments on the rest of the people i voted for.

Elliott was very much in his element and while it was good, the judges were right. not his best performance.

Mandisa was good, but it was kind of a rocky beginning. i think most of them are having trouble adapting to the huge stage and big band. by the end she'd found her rhythm and rocked it.

it was nice to see Melissa do a softer song even if she did forget the words. (i totally didn't notice.) i hope she sticks around because i think she'll handle the themes really well.

Katharine continues to have a phenomenal voice. singing is just second nature for her and to quote Simon, "she's effortless". so much power and so much control. i always enjoy hearing what she brings to the table.

i was a little worried for Chris tonight. i'm actually worried for Chris period with these theme shows, but he pulled it off and pulled it off wonderfully. they wanted originality? they got it!!

i was disappointed in Ace tonight. he was just all over the place. he couldn't seem to find his pitch and he was trying too hard. just be and sing pretty, Ace. we don't want anything more from you. i'm not voting for him because he has enough fangirls to do so for me.

Paris and Lisa were just meh for me tonight. Lisa just seemed very uncomfortable not doing a ballad and when she tried to be sexy it came off as exactly that.

Kevin should never dance on national tv ever again. i'm amused that his fangirls are more the age that Simon told Will Makar his fangirls would be. where's the 90 year old women, Simon? heh.

Bucky, Bucky, Bucky. please get your sorry, hot-curlered nappy hair self off my television screen. you're awful.

surprisingly? didn't hate Kellie Pickler this week. sure, the performance was pretty bland. the difference was i could actually hear a decent voice lurking underneath. she definitely needs to step away from the country songs and get out of her comfort zone. maybe she'll even get a vote out of me next time.
