dear america,

fuck you. fuck you very much. please do enjoy your extremely bland, run of the mill AI winner. someone you can hear on the radio right now because she sounds like every other contemporary pop singer out there. she can join the multitudes of other AI winners who do absolutely nothing for me(or the rest of america by the look of their album sales).

me? i'll be over here in the corner with the right-minded people who will be buying Blake's album the day it comes out. i'll take the likes of Blake, Daughtry and Elliott Yamin over Carrie, Taylor and Jordin any day.

no love,
me

And the three you mentioned right there (Blake, Daughtry, and Elliott)...those are my guys. So I'm with you completely.

Jordin is a poor choice, yes, but I think it's an ok thing that Blake didn't win. By not winning, he won't be chained down by the AI bosses under contract. He won't have to release or sing ultra-cheesy AI songs.

It's obvious that he's going to get a record deal out of this anyway.

Huh. Have never watched the show - where I come from, you earn stardom by working, not by this particular cheese-food process, and to an old school rocker, shows like Idol are hurl-inducing.

But I loves me some Kelly Clarkson. Didn't know until about two years ago that she'd had anything to do with them. And I've heard Doughtry; my immediate thought was, huh, who knew Nickelback had "school of" already?

(Which, BTW, is not a putdown. I adore Chad Kroeger's voice, so Doughtry is okay by me.)

Still, I'll be over here with my classic vintage rockers.

I liked Melinda, I loved Blake, but I'm glad Jordin won. Blake will still be signed by 19E, but he'll have more control over what he puts out there than if he had won. Kelly is just getting creative control over her own stuff, and it's been years since she won. I think he'll be happier, and will end up putting out better stuff that he's happier with.

When I was watching (this was the first season I didn't watch because I usually get really ticked off) I wanted my faves to go as far as possible with out winning, that way they're not in all the contracts the winner gets. They get to do more of the stuff they want to do.

So I'd say it's probably a good thing.

I didn't watch regularly this season...but I agree. Blake had "something special" that was unique...after Chris n Elliot got axed last season, I vowed to never watch again. I've only peeked at a few of the last eppys to see what the Sanjaya (sp?) crazy was about and to see Blake after Speaker gave me the link to him doing the Bon Jovi song...;)

*hugs*

Here's the thing - like everyone else said, Blake won't be tied down to the AI contract and I really think he'll have more creative control.

That being said, I STILL think Melinda should've won. Also, I honestly thought Jordin had a better voice than Blake. I think she has a bright future ahead of her.

I agree ... and Elliott was my all-time favorite Idol contestant. The thing is? Blake is far too good for this show, and the "Idol winner" CD they would have forced him to do would have been abominable because Clive and whomever else has no fecking clue what to do with the boy.

My husband, who hates AI with every fiber that is within in, was super impressed with Blake last night during the Doug E. Fresh duet. He just has a talent that is too big for the stupid vanilla pop competition Idol has rapidly become.

Now we can just hope he plays Clay to Jordin's Ruben, DAUGHTRY to Jordin's Taylor.

FWIW, I still ::heart:: Ryan Seacrest ...

I liked Blake, but I loved Melinda (and am glad she didn't win). Of course, Melinda is more the kind of singer I prefer (ballads, bluesy, soulful, etc). If that girl puts out a CD - I'll buy it, no hesitation.

Jordin won because of just the reason you said - she sounds like what is on the radio. Be glad that Blake was "runner up" because if history holds true - he'll end up doing better than Jordin does. As many have already said - the fact that he didn't win will grant him more creative control over what he puts out. Especially because of the huge fan base he has of folks like you. :o) ((hugs))

We don't watch AI, but Mom decided to turn it on to find out who won after hearing the clips from Tuesday night. Based on those alone, she commented that Jordin was the better singer, which is probably true, and Blake is the better performer. But as Dad pointed out as she sang the final number, there's nothing unique about her voice. That's why she'll bomb right now. Now, in ten years, it may be a different story as her voice keeps maturing. Heck, I suddenly developed a new sound to my voice in the last year or so. So while I have no intention of listening to anything of hers now, I'd be interested to hear her in another decade.

I have no doubt that Blake will do just fine without this title.
